The I Parked Here! app remembers where you parked, on your phone and nowhere else. There is no account and no sign-up, and we don't run any servers. We don't collect or sell your personal data. The app shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some data to show them, as explained under Advertising below.
I Parked Here! is made by an independent developer. You can reach us at dumpsterfirestudio.art@gmail.com.
Only one parking spot is ever kept: its map position and accuracy, the time it was saved, and the floor number if you tapped one. It is kept in the app's private storage on your phone.
It is deleted when you tap "Found it!" at your car ("Undo" can bring it back for a few seconds), and also if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
For achievements, the app also keeps a count of how many times you have found your car, and which achievement it showed last. These are only numbers, with no places or times, kept in the same private storage until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
The app also remembers a few settings there: whether to show the help cards when it opens, and for each tip, how many times it has been shown and whether you have used the button it points to. These hold no places or times either.
Your parking spot and your GPS location never leave your phone. To draw the map, the app downloads map images ("tiles") from OpenStreetMap's tile servers, run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and the Leaflet map library from the unpkg.com service. As with visiting any website, those services receive your phone's IP address and which map tiles are requested, which reveals the general area being shown on the map. Their own privacy policies apply, for example osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting tools of its own. Advertising is the only other thing that talks to the internet; see the next section.
If you tap "Share" on an achievement, the app makes a picture of it and hands the picture and a short message (with a link to the app's store page) to the app you choose, such as WhatsApp or Facebook. Nothing is sent unless you choose to share it, and it goes only where you send it; that app's own privacy policy then applies.
From time to time, after you find your car, Google Play's own "Rate this app" card may appear. It is shown by Google Play, not by the app: the app never sees your rating or review, and anything you write there is handled by Google under its privacy policy.
The app shows ads from Google AdMob (Google LLC, or Google Ireland Limited in the UK and EU): a banner at the top of the screen, and a video ad only if you choose to watch one after finding your car.
To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect your phone's advertising ID, your IP address and the approximate location that can be worked out from it, information about your device (such as model, operating system and language), and how you interact with the ads. The app does not give Google your GPS location or your parking spot.
In the UK, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and other places where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before any ad is requested, using Google's consent form. You can change your choice at any time with "Ad privacy choices" at the bottom of the privacy policy screen in the app. In US states with privacy laws, such as California, ads may use this data unless you opt out: "Ad privacy choices" lets you choose "Don't sell or share my data", after which your data is no longer used for personalised ads. Wherever you live, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (on Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads), which also turns off personalised ads.
Ads are limited to content suitable for general audiences. How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we don't receive any ourselves. The only data shared with a third party is what Google AdMob collects to show ads, described under Advertising.
I Parked Here! is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Because your data stays on your phone, you are in control of it: find your car or clear the app's data to delete the saved spot, and turn off location access for the app at any time in your phone's settings (the app can't save a spot without it). For ads, see the choices under Advertising.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, for example under the EU and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law 25,326 or Israel's Protection of Privacy Law. We hold no personal data about you ourselves, so there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete; for data collected by Google for ads, Google's privacy policy explains how to exercise your rights. You are always welcome to contact us with any question or request.
If this policy changes, we will update it here and in the app, and change the date at the top.
Questions, requests or feedback (for example a mistake in a translation): dumpsterfirestudio.art@gmail.com. If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them once they are no longer needed.
